The preheating of CNC machine tools is to make processing and production more stable

09-11-2022

Only under the condition of stable temperature and thermal balance can obtain stable machining accuracy. High precision machining and production shall be carried out after the machine is started. Machine tool preheating is the basic knowledge of precision machining. Only by using and maintaining the equipment correctly can we maintain the stability of the machining accuracy of the machine tool for a long time, prevent abnormal wear of the machine tool, avoid sudden failures of the machine tool, and extend the service life of the machine tool.

1. What is the reason for machine tool preheating?

The thermal performance of CNC machine tools is an important factor affecting the machining accuracy, which accounts for more than half of the machining accuracy. The guideway, screw and other parts of the machine tool spindle and XYZ moving shaft will be heated and deformed due to load, friction and other factors during the movement, but the final impact on the machining accuracy is the displacement of the spindle and XYZ moving shaft parts relative to the workbench.

The machining accuracy of the machine tool in the state of long-term shutdown is quite different from that in the state of thermal balance. The reason is that the temperature of the machine tool spindle and each moving shaft is relatively stable after running for a period of time, and its thermal accuracy tends to be stable as the processing time goes on, which indicates that the main shaft and moving parts must be preheated before processing.

However, the preparation of "warm-up" of machine tools has been ignored by many factories.

2. How to preheat the machine tool?

If the machine tool is put on hold for more than a few days, it is recommended to preheat 30 minutes in advance before high-precision machining; If the shelving state is only a few hours, it is recommended to preheat for 5-10 minutes, and then perform high-precision machining.

Preheating is to make the machine tool move repeatedly on the processing axis, preferably multi axis linkage, such as moving the XYZ axis from the lower left corner to the upper right corner, and walking diagonally repeatedly.

During execution, the macro program can be written on the machine tool to make the machine tool warm up repeatedly.

After sufficient preheating, energetic machine tools will be put into high-precision processing and production, and you will obtain stable and consistent processing accuracy.
